Thanks for the detailed information – very thorough. Great job MKLPA
Hello. My address is 8562 Huber Lane. Our bay on Lake Minocqua is ruined with Eurasian Milfoil!! Our bay was turned down for treatment for this season. And NOW we can’t swim or boat without getting tangled up. PLEASE TREAT IT!!! What else can I do to get attention?? My number is 7156148161. I invite anyone to come visit and see what is happening. Thank you.
BIG SAFETY ISSUE through the Thorough Fare between Minocqua and Lake Tomahawk is the number of boats that pull children behind them. Towing children with long tow lines swing them into the opposing line of traffic on the curves. The DNR, Minocqua Public Safety and whatever governing agencies NEED to address this DANGEROUS situation ASAP to protect children.
Thank you,
Joan Junge

Section 5 of Plan should expand protection to include water quality and shoreline erosion. I strongly urge the MKLPA to push up the plan and grant requests to include water testing now, not in five years. Pollution from ground water runoff and underground septic system leaks could be contributing to our chain ranking in low water quality systems.
Please recognize that in previous town hall meetings Shoreline destruction was rated high! The amount of money being spent by riparians on new restoration projects is staggering. Ordinance and enforcement of restrictions on massive amount of ballast boat traffic is destroying our lake shore. Other lake associations and Last wilderness alliance are worthy of our consideration. We need a massive political action committee to move the needle and push local towns and the DNR to pay attention. Boat traffic and volume has grown each year to be a large safety shoreline water quality and transportation of invasive from chain to chain. We need more clout, not just weed control!
Completely agree with Ran Hoth. The current – and longer term potential – of significant damage to our lakes caused by wake/ballast boats is significant, problematic, and extremely concerning. This needs to be addressed immediately.
Jet skis, given their noise and the typical directionless and circular drive patters, are also problematic and destructive to the lake’s utility for all users. A single jet-ski, driven endlessly in figure-8s, noisily jumping and screaming with no end-point, can completely ruin the lake experience for all.
As the survey findings report, a large number use the lakes for “relaxing”, “nature viewing”, “swimming”, silent sports, and even sailing.
If wake boats (primarily) followed by jet ski usage is not addressed, our beloved lakes will lose their magic and charm.
The crew pulled out milfoil for parts of 2 days in the bay by Wendts and Josarts Islands last summer. This year it doesn’t look like they pulled a weed. I think pulling and cutting are a waste of time and money. I hate to say this, but maybe spraying is the only answer. I,m not complaining, I’m just saying what I see in front of our house and my thoughts.
Thanks to everyone for your many hours of wor
